How can you describe Emma Stone’s performance in a way that hasn’t already been done. Boo. You can’t.
Production design is so elegant and crisp. Any exterior shot could be easily be framed and displayed. Performances have such chaotic good energy.

In what is maybe the most oddly paced Miyazaki film yet, there is a lot happening on screen, but also not much happening on screen. Vivid animations, bright designs, wonderful music aside, the overarching story seems like it's playing second fiddle to what Miyazaki would rather want you to feel, than simply just observe. Compared to his earlier films there isn't a distinct rhythm to what connects everything together, but it's not as much as a drawback as you'd think.…
