Pros: two great action sequences (Mexico City and the train fight), interesting Bond girl, Daniel Craig is great as always. Cons: way too long, Christoph Waltz’s actions and motivations are dumb, and the plot resolved in a generally unsatisfying way.

One of the best directed James Bond movies I’ve seen, and feels much more like a classic Bond movie than the rest of the Daniel Craig ones (have yet to see Spectre). The action scenes were beautiful (the Shanghai sequences in particular) and easy to follow, which was a nice change after the headache-inducing Quantum of Solace. That said, it doesn’t match the effortless cool of Casino Royale and parts of it were a little too JJ Abrams / MCU-y for me (lots of fan service and winking at the audience). Still, this is exciting throughout and a top-tier Bond film.
