Skinamarink 2022
Unsettling, moody, and just downright terrifying, Skinamarink does not offer the usual horror movie experience, all for the better. Every single aspect of this film feels like a dream. Admittedly, I do not think that this film is for everyone as some might find it rather slow and monotonous. Nonetheless, Kyle Edward Ball and Jamie McRae's understanding of composition, technique, and even the occasional tinnitus-inducing sound design lured me in by establishing a sense of mystery, helplessness, and pure dread reminiscent of my own childhood nightmares.
I gave Ball and this movie a chance, and they did not disappoint.
