i loved this film as a child,, i’ll always have memories of watching it on my tiny pink tv at my grandparents house,,, this film always stuck with me and i’ve always remembered all the characters,,,,,although i’ve never read the book, the story is timeless and one that i was so glad to have been shown at such an early age.

I knew I’d like this film but what I didn’t expect going into this was how camp it would be at times,, although this film was far ahead of its time in terms of visual storytelling, the camp elements remind us that this is from 1989 and that it subtly draws inspiration from mid century horror
