So Bong Joon-Ho is an Elliott Smith fan!
It was weird. It was funny. It was beautiful sci-fi. Ruffalo does a pretty good Trump. And Robert Pattinson is wonderful! The messages about classism, colonialism, and ethnic cleansing are there and obnoxious almost, but whoever was behind the design of the “creepers” deserves all the praise. We love them. They are perfect.

Act I definitely starts slow, but it quickly builds nicely after that. The sets, writing, and cinematography are outstanding. The overall eerie tone is conveyed with every shot. A Quiet Place: Day One 2024
Upon a second watch, this movie gets 5 stars. The alien thriller/horror aspect is only a useful backdrop to a truly beautiful story about the importance of human connection. Excellent acting, tenderness, some scares, a good kitty, an emphasis on pizza, a LOTR reference, and a perfect end scene. What more could you want? I just love it so much.
