The biggest criticism I have seen for this film is that the main character is annoying, and that nothing really happens. I believe that this movie is a very real, very raw, depiction of being a teenage girl. Lady Bird is not supposed to be perfect, and this film makes no effort in glorifying her mistakes. This is a boring, predictable movie. Its only redeeming quality is Adam Driver yelling the line “I just had sex and I’m about to eat nachos!”
I was hoping it would be a light hearted romantic watch but honestly I find the whole ‘in the friend zone’ storyline to be old and low key problematic. I honestly would have preferred the movie if the main characters remained friends, in fact I think they were better as friends.
