The satire is very on the nose in this one, and it is a lot more okja than it is parasite. A fun watch, though there is a weird love “square” that they could have omitted. I think if this was trimmed down to 100 minutes I would have enjoyed it more.

Stop Making Sense 1984
I’ve never SEEN music like this. Like, I’ve heard it but never has it felt so intimate yet engaging from a visual perspective. IMAX and theater sound did this flick a lot of favors.
Also, make frontmen silly again. Life’s not that serious. Wear a big suit. Let the lighting guy sing a little bit. Wear a red hat for no reason if you want to. There are no rules.

Learned a lot about each member's origins - I thought it was exceptional how each's experience doing session work eventually materialized with instant chemistry. I would have liked to have the film focus more about the early challenges the group faced, but honestly it was a fantastic origin story clearly outlining each member's path to each other. John Paul Jones reminds me a lot of Willem DaFriend in terms of likability but also staying grounded.
