  cinematography and performances still slap, as does the unpredictable concept and story, just so wish that script was better. there’s lots of discussion to be had on defying expectations and showing audiences a twist on a familiar narrative (big bonus points for non linearly) and it’s great to see an addition to the women villain lexicon, but it clumsily handles bdsm, gender roles, and even modern romance (“you seriously asking for my digits? it’s all about the ig now”). either way still a tight thriller presented in a unique way so big ups for that.

  firmly c-tier if not d. not bold or brave enough to do anything interesting. comparisons to cap 2: winter solider (arguably the best mcu movie) are unfair (for reasons sam wilson would be very self conscious about) but unfortunately warranted because they’re both political thrillers except this movie’s idea of politics is soft as hell. giancarlo esposito’s 2 scenes saves this movie from being too boring and too blandly written, adding just enough intrigue to keep it going.

  the final song of this movie literally is the most baffling piece of media I’ve experienced. there’s no rhyme scheme, off rhythm instrumentalists, everyone’s singing in their own key and on their own time, and the song is about how here’s a crime happening in the town while the circus goes on???!??
