there’s a plethora of nyc based films that make the city look “aesthetic”, but few manage to nail the uptown vibrancy as masterfully as parks does. sure, plot + character development are wanting, but i saw this as less of a “movie” and more so a love letter to harlem and tailored trench coats (hardly short of a perfect premise).
watched this mid-6 hr flight departing jfk (and my beloved harlem apt) to a place that’s as culturally destitute as a US state can be, so that probably had me feeling extra ~immersed~
