  I understand why so many people disliked the end but it was the most realistic and relatable for me. She couldn’t stay to find out whether or not he’d forgive her, she couldn’t bare to know the answer, she knew the answer, after a lifetime of her mother’s guilt trips and control. This was also one of my mother’s favorite films, who is scarily similar to Alva’s mother in the movie and named me after Wood. Her shrill screams and rancorous stares send shivers up my whole body. She deserved better, not sure if I’m talking about the actress or the character anymore…

  One of my favorite acting performances, a really lovable character and her facial expressions, eyebrows alone convey so much.

  Trying to be guarded after having so many betrayals and bad experiences, but then actually just leaping over the guard rails like a child w the highest of expectations at the first smile, sign of belonging, life, and always. Landing flat on your face. Again. And again. It really is like that
