  impressive on a technical level, valuable as a documentation of mental illness, and the least funny comedy special i have ever watched.

  burnham was absolutely right in his reaction video bit that self-deprecation doesn't actually make him seem less of a douchebag. that he points out his glaring privilege doesn't justify tired sexist jokes about basic bitch instagrams, flippancy about "cancel culture", or that weird bit where he wants every other person in the world to shut up and stop…

  "they can't all conduct, honey. it's not a democracy."

  from the opening credits listing the director last, this is actually a comedy about how egomaniac directors ultimately contribute nothing to films but facilitating communication and a sense of timing. loved the way it lingers on empty high class snobbery the way that a good torture porn slashfest lingers on the glisten and the dribble of meat.

  blanchett brings lydia tár to life with razor precision, and what we get is…
