incredibly powerful film. probably my favourite I've seen this year. extremely relevant in current times; you'd think it was a movie about the past when it is actually about the present. the cinematography and sound design was hauntingly brilliant, and this is genuinely one of those perfectly done movies with some very very striking scenes that you think about long after watching it.
i don't think a film has touched me as much as this one did in recent years. i think it's an excellent example of how animation can do realism and give voice to certain thoughts and emotions through themes that even live actions may fail to. I was absolutely gutted by the ending. a masterpiece.

this was so wonderful. so, so good. i still have scenes and dialogues replaying in my head and i cant stop thinking about the title and reading other people's thoughts. i loved aksel's conversation with julie towards the end there and the ever conflicted notion people will always have about the meaning they should assign to their lives... we spend our lives doing and creating and chasing after the next thing and perhaps leaving behind a legacy, but would we…
