The Matrix Reloaded 2003
I loved the first movie so really wanted to like this. but my god so many scenes are such a bore, so drawn out, the incredible action and effects don't make up for much of the film having such a lack of pace or meaning. And don't get me started on the cliche of love being a force above all else - so cheap compared to the expansive cultural force of the first film

the retro-tech dystopia series continues with - the matrix! i loved this, bisexual panic etc, and keanu reeves at the end? i want to be him.
in all honesty the philosophy of the film falls quiet short but its so much fun that it doesn't really matter

The Essex Serpent 2022
beautifully shot, and the first two episodes in particular were very atmospheric and well paced.
however - and I know it sticks closely to the plot of the book - this definitely could have been a film with a 2.5 hour running. everything related to london seemed useless and shoehorned in, especially the martha/spencer subplot, but even the first few scenes of the show (and several others in the village)
also - why was everyone so angry all the time…
