Hilarious acting from Ben stiller really makes this film 3000x better. his portrayal of a stylised, overconfident gym-lad-turned-villain is so funny to watch, reminding me of his seemingly innate ability to perfectly carry one-liners. despite the film falling flat with discriminatory ‘jokes’ that do not age well, and creepy behaviour from the average joe gym guy, the overall great cast and amazingly stylised setting/ costumes makes it a good watch !!
This 70s adaptation of Bibbiena’s 1513 play was remarkably enjoyable, despite the lack of English subtitles! With an unsettling medieval-esque soundtrack of ‘la la la’s’ simply improving the quick-witted dialogue and slapstick episodes, it certainly succeeds in imitating the original Comedy. Altho it focuses primarily on the performing of gender through costumes, the (female) cast spends an odd amount of time naked !! Despite this, really enjoyed watching a remake of such a wonderful play!!

A slow and at times confusing narrative. Using the same actor for both brothers was a hilarious move (not the vibe the film is going for) that unfortunately distracted from the second half of the movie. Found the portrayal of familial relationships beautifully crafted, however. Overall, an interesting watch but wouldn’t necessarily recommend.
