American Psycho 2000
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
It’s hard to know what to say about this movie. It’s play on psychological conflict and the deeper problems that face human society are intriguing, but the ending left me confused. Did Bateman commit the crimes or was it all in his head? The director of the film has said that she wanted to leave things ambiguous, and she said that the conclusion that bateman imagined everything is not what she intended. I’ll have to give it some more thought on my own, but overall a really interesting movie that I hope to rewatch again soon.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a film so self aware of its own stupidity, and for that I give this one the highest marks I can reasonably give a film of this genre. Horroromedies like Final Destination (first that comes to mind) often suck ass because the balance between over the top corniness and comedy is impossible to strike, but this one knocked it out of the park.
