“We think too much and feel too little”
While certainly a visually striking and well-composed film, I found The Last of the Mohicans to be pretty predicable and somewhat banal in its mode of storytelling—and pretty dull in its dialogue. I watched the whole way through and not one single line of dialogue was independent of or unmotivated by the plot. Most films that can’t talk without furthering the story end up appearing pretty stale and trite. Mann’s a talented enough director to make up for an unimaginative…
Some things are better left alone.
In other news, I actually love this.
Apparently a fire destroyed all but two prints of this film in 1993. Thank god they managed to survive because I can’t imagine a world where I can’t watch this.
