a pitiful self centered man abuses those around him, expecting them always to come back to his bullshit…as he hides behind the guise of « finding himself »… pretty camera, horrible outfit design, stale conversations, great music, but too many weird, toxic, messy relationships…i guess that’s the realism part of the film ??…the rest is just french clichés coming from a german man in a relationship with a french woman and a brit…felt good when he got his just desserts at the end…alas it took an hour and a half of excruciating cringe and frustration to get there….not worth it imo

The camera play with rising and falling, the tension, the linguistic ping longing, the palpability of the crisis between fiction and reality; in short, everything about this film was well tuned. Also, rarely does a film that wins at Cannes include 50 Cent and Bach…
NB. Etymology of tiramisu, the Kubrick references to The Shining (this film could almost be seen as a parallel dimension, dramatized in a different and more open fashion of the plot), the jeu of height difference constantly, and the battle of not-seeing/seeing, all are excellent, yet, some more obvious than others.
One of my favorite watches of 2023!!
