Maybe my expectations were too high. It was by no means bad, but I didn't think it was particularly great either. Reading that Jordan Peele was partly inspired to write 'Nope' by the 'endless cycle of grim, inescapable tragedy' in 2020 makes me appreciate it more in retrospect. Perhaps it needs a rewatch at some point.

Finally, a fantastic Predator movie! The best since the original. While the Predator movies have tended to veer towards being schlocky and a bit wacky in the subsequent films, this one strikes a more serious tone, and I loved it. I just wanted to nerd out over the small details and lore. The action and choreography are fantastic, and the return of mystery surrounding the Predator is back once again. The lead and supporting cast deliver great performances, portraying brave but fearful characters facing this unknown creature. Dan Trachtenberg has brought Predator back to life. Run!
