    Even if you ignore all the controversy, Green Book is just simply boring, unfunny and feels like it was made in the 1990s.
    How this won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2019(!) - over Roma, over The Favourite, heck basically over any of the other nominees (well, maybe except for Bohemian Rhapsody) - baffles me.

    And I know it's supposed to be biographical but both leads were just obnoxious and insufferable throughout the whole film.

    Baz Luhrmann - probably the most maximalist filmmaker since the golden days of the old Hollywood studio system.

    While I generally appreciate that he's picking narratives that fit his aesthetics of more is more quite well (the 1920s of the Great Gatsby, Paris in the late 19th/early 20th century, the life of the King) and isn't even trying to do anything less than bigger, better, more, this time it was actually overwhelming and overpowering, and I dare say too much.…

    Gloria by Sebastián Lelio - the portrayal of a 58-year-old divorced woman.
    What a wonderful film!
    It might seem crazy but as a 28-year old man I could relate to Gloria in so many ways.
    I know this mixture of loneliness, desperation and disappointment very well. I experience it myself from time to time. You try doing fancy activities, try meeting and clinging to other people, you go dancing, you are laughing…
