    Novocaine

    ★★½

Super fun twist on the action rom-com, Novocaine strikes a good balance of laughs and heart, and keeps you engaged from start to finish. Jack Quaid continues to show talent with another solid performance. In combination with Companion he is having a great 2025 so far. Amber Midthunder isn’t given much to do necessarily, but still makes the role her own. Batalon is great as the comic relief. The action scenes get creative based on the film’s premise, and while realistically dude…

    Black Bag

    ★★★

Slick, medium burn Spy “thriller” with that classic Soderbergh style. Fassbender and Blanchett give smooth performances, working from another super solid script from Koepp. Also love the energy from Burke & Abela. It’s a tight well paced 90, but would have loved another 10-15 minutes to let certain plot points play out instead of wrapping everything up via exposition.

Ultimately Black Bag is low key great date movie, with just enough sexiness to add a little something different to this espionage tale. Go see it on the big screen.

    Heart Eyes

    ★★

Deliciously camp, Heart Eyes delivers the perfect pairing of both gore and humor, making this sexy slasher, the cherry on top of your upcoming Gal/Pal/Valentine’s Day plans.

Mason Gooding gives a really good performance, a definite step up from his work in the Scream franchise, as he shows a real vulnerability as the heart throb with a heart of gold. It pairs well with the won’t get fooled again angst of Olivia Holt’s Ally. Their chemistry is what makes this…

    Companion

    ★★½

Although way sexier than Skynet, Companion show us yet again, that when it comes the creation of AI infused f#ckbots, the only ones getting screwed are the dumb apes that created them. Let’s cozy on up to my latest review.

The Goodest: Sophie Thatcher & Jack Quaid both deliver solid performances as the leads, especially after Quaid’s villainous turn. Director Drew Hancock does a great job of mixing humor and violence (some well executed action sequences), which in addition to his…
