Same issues as the LOTR films. Great sense of scale, and never slow or boring. Granted this is much better than LOTR films.
Still had horrific dialogue, and awful and inconsistent tone.
Certain scenes like the moments between Kong and Ann and the bug pit are great, and then the in between parts that “make a movie” are horrific and sloppily directed. Can forgive the bad cg and weird sky replacements due to age so no issue there. Forgettable music, mid cinematography if you forgive the terrible choppy frame scenes. Really good story and great sense of scale. Jackson continues to be an extremely frustrating director.
