I was pleasantly surprised by the heart and humor in this engaging horror. Scott Derrickson does an immaculate job of establishing his characters before they face their impeding terror. The main child actors delivered on their roles well and Ethan Hawke plays a believable villain who I would have loved more screen time from. When the focus was on Obi-Wan and Vader it was amazing and mostly purposeful. Otherwise this show lacked a lot of character development, the dialogue was poorly written and delivered, and the tension was often struck down by convenient resolutions. Vivian Blair fluctuated on her acting abilities throughout the show and was overused but thought she resembled a young Leia quite well. Reva’s backstory should have been revealed much earlier so we could actually emphasize with her. The set design…
The first six episodes were phenomenal! Every character put on an amazing performance and the show being based around the study of their behavior and response made it much more fun to see play out. The energy, charisma, and motivation of every player in the game was almost tangible and the twisted psychology of the working classes paired with life-and-death philosophy was beautifully presented.
