  Holy shit this film opens like it's lawrence of arabia 

  They just don't make act 1 openings like this, like act 1 sets up so much backstory for what it is. 

  Idk, it was really good. Incredible music and visuals.

  I love the editing around the part where Gerry Lopez goes "nah, I like Maui" and leaves Hollywood.

  I think there's a humbleness to the film that really opens it up to examine surf culture as it's grown and changed.

  And it was pretty cool to see the full story of one of my favorite actors as a kid.

  I think it's pretty wild he was in Conan: The Barbarian.
