Animation is very well-made and with a lot of attention to detail, and music choices are nice. Aside of that, I couldn't help feeling that the history is trying to make up for Dog's mistakes, and later hearing opinions about closures in life and so on, I didn't really feel like that with this movie. It just felt like the character making excuses for their lack of commitment. On the Oscar's side, although quite a breakthrough in indie animation, it wasn't worth of the nomination over other contenders such as Super Mario Bros or TMNT.
