The Social Network 2010
Upon rewatch, I’m lowering it to 3.5. The story is interesting and I think mostly it sticks the landing. I’m a huge Fincher fan but the pace of dialogue here (which is sort of one of his signatures as of late) is just way too fast and distracting. It just doesn’t feel genuine.

The Thing 2011
This is a prequel to the 82 Carpenter remake and if I had to describe it in one word, it’d be “unnecessary”. It plays like a beat for beat remake. Antarctic research crew happens upon crash site. Alien takes shape of what it touches. Crew can’t trust one another. The film never really justifies its existence. There are a couple of nice nods to the original but it never does anything that could garner the same title of “original”. The CGI is also terrible which is sad since the original was revolutionary for practical effects.
