Points for originality and daring. Out of the many oddities in his career, none is so fiercely idiosyncratic and just the mere fact that it got made warrants celebration. Its oddball logic, with a sense of humor that flirts back and forth between both low-key and broad, suggests a steady diet of comic books and underground literature so much that it's easy to imagine as one of the indie graphic novels that nowadays get published to deservedly great acclaim.
