As an adaptation it is utter dogshit, as a movie on its own it's so utterly devoid of any meaning and so uncommitted to the story it is is trying to be, you can be serious, you don't have to undercut every serious moment with a joke. I've never seen a movie so packed with obvious metaphors and imagery that is desperate to be analyzed and yet the movie refuses to engage with any type of commentary about said imagery.

Mufasa: The Lion King 2024
This isn't even well directed. Every musical number is just a lion running through some grey rocks while the camera tracks through empty space. The fight scenes have terrible geography combined with boring character design that are impossible to distinguish from one another. Just all around empty and embarrassing.
