The original is one my favorites, and I was very pleased with how this turned out. Eddie Murphy slips right back into the Axel Foley role like he hasn't missed a beat. And while you can definitely see and hear the years that have stuck to Judge Reinhold and John Ashton, they still feel like they're right back at home in their limited roles. It was... okay. A musical where I immediately forgot every single original song. A few of the jokes I thought they needlessly explained to the audience, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. Jude Law was pretty funny though, and it was nice seeing Paterson Joseph. Love that guy in Peep Show.
Very charming movie, you won't see many better stop-motion films than this one. I'll never stop being impressed with the range of emotion Nick Park is able communicate through Gromit's facial expressions.
