    About Time

    ★★★★★

About Time transcends the classic romcom genre and instead teaches, speaks, and translates life lessons in a poignant, thought-provoking and truly special way. This movie touched me, and continues to on every rewatch, in a way that few films ever have, and even fewer will. We all have those special films that teach us something important—something that makes us strive to be better people or helps us see ourselves in a new light. About Time is just this, and I hope…

    Mulholland Drive

it’s gonna take a while for me to fully process what the fuck I just watched

i don’t even know how many stars I can give this so I won’t rate it

this is my first david lynch film so if the rest of his filmography are like Mullholland Drive then I’m in for a treat

    Opus

    ★★★

Definitely higher on this than some, but can see why it’s been disliked! Opus doesn’t really delve deeply into the themes it brings up. There are brief references to celebrity excess and cult-like experiences, as well as thinly veiled critiques of Scientology and magazine journalism, but they never really explore these ideas fully. Once the film starts revealing its secrets, it quickly turns into a fairly standard horror flick, culminating in a twist that feels more tacked on than impactful. This…

    Black Bag

    ★★★

Sexy and simple espionage piece. Rather than overdramatising the “whodunnit” story, Black Bag is attractive, offering a variety of commendable performances, and simplifying the genre. Prioritising dialogue over any type of action, the twists and turns are fairly predictable, the chemistry between characters not always the best, but the gloomy and mysterious atmosphere throughout is executed successfully, adding needed ambience amongst moments of dragging conversation.

    DVD Watchlist
    My Favourites

Saw a tweet a few days ago about how this film came out 32 years ago to the day so I felt it was about time I finally sat down and watched it, it will also be my 150th logged film this year so what more of a reason to watch it, and what a movie to be #150!

Unsurprisingly, this movie was a masterpiece and I’m glad I can say I’ve now experienced it. This…

    BARBENHEIMER: PART 1
    OPPENHEIMER:

I’ll be honest I went into this one with some reservations; I’m not the biggest Nolan fan, and I feel the only one of his films I saw at the cinema was The Dark Knight Rises (11 years ago yesterday!). There’s your Tenets (haven’t seen), Inception, and Interstellar that are all (I assume) best seen on a big screen- maybe this was where my reservations came from?
I also left it way too late to book tickets so…
