An American Werewolf in London 1981
As after every single time watching this, I will have ear worms of every single ‘Blue Moon’ variation there is.
Thank you, John Landis, thank you so much.

The Keep 1983
The Keep has its undeniable flaws. The premise sounds promising: a supernatural evil, accidentally released by greedy Nazis, mankind’s ‘ultimate’ evil, in a mysterious keep in the middle of the Romanian Alps. Despite that, however, it does have bad pacing, okay-ish acting at best, a lack of sound editing, an ending so eventless that you cannot prepare yourself for it, and numerous massive plot holes which turn the last third of the film into a muddled and almost incomprehensible mess.…

The Brutalist 2024
The first half borders on being a masterpiece. Unfortunately for me, the second half doesn’t deliver quite as much. In fact, the characters, their subplots and the overall purpose of what’s being told keep losing more and more focus, amounting to some final 20 minutes that are as artistic as they are dissatisfying to me. They are unnecessarily jumbled and rushed, considering the runtime.
It pains me not to give The Brutalist four stars, but to me, its ambition and beauty are overshadowed by my gradual disconnection with it. Maybe I’ll fully connect with it someday.

Tenet 2020
[I’ll probably write a more thorough and unbiased review once I’m able to think straight again. Which means it likely won’t stay up at 4.5/5 but I’m satisfied for now.]
Tenet has some starting problems (not the opening scene, but I felt there was some...overall clean structure gone missing), but it quickly turns up and feels like a Nolan movie again after about half an hour.
I have watched it dubbed in German so I can’t (yet) comment on these…
