Flow 2024
Staggering.
I decided to go to bed first before writing a review for this because I needed to gather my thoughts. Now, nearly 24 hours later, I still don't know how to describe how or why this movie affected me so much. Nonanthropomorphized animals, no dialogue, gorgeous visuals, small/scrappy team, wildly strong artistic vision.
I am going to end up watching this again. I feel like I have to. I spent too much time just taking in the score, watching the background, marveling at the sense of place and geography, and sobbing.
This film is a triumph.

The Curse 2023
I cannot stop thinking about the last episode. I do not know when I will ever be able to stop thinking about it. This show is an inoculation against the apathy I’ve felt with a lot of visual media lately, the constant bombardment by formula and marketability. This show is so unapologetic, while also being unbelievably well done. It is the perfect marriage between Safdie and Fielder. I went in thinking their two distinct styles weren’t compatible, but they found so much within each other’s styles. Felt like a ridiculously collaborative creative effort.
