  This film really snuck up and got me in the feels. Had no idea what to expect going in but with some beautiful shots and a fittingly surreal feel throughout I was surprised at how minimalist the plot and themes turned out to be. Always expected it to be going in a different direction but left me feeling warm and satisfied, if slightly jolted.

  Interesting more than entertaining. I was glad to watch a film from this era with a three dimensional female lead. Interesting to think about whether contemporary audiences would have sympathised with Hilton, being an unfaithful wife and a killer. Cleverly done to play with this sympathy by revealing elements of her story gradually throughout, and I think it would probably be effective at making some people think harder about capital punishment. But for me it was a little flat and without development. I’m not sure I got to know any character in a particularly deep way and there was a definite stiffness to the whole thing.
