  I'm fairly conflicted and have to admit that I've struggled with Eggers in the past. I think The Lighthouse is a masterpiece but find The Witch to be dreary and far too self indulgent. Nosferatu isn't dreary, it is haunting and engaging, until Nandor's creepy Uncle Orlok arrives at the port, that is.   It's tonally inconsistent, plasticky, convoluted and ultimately, an inconsequential mess. Their marketing team should be given a raise for getting me hot enough to want to see this. The trailer teased an adult espionage thriller but, clearly, the executives couldn't help themselves from demeaning anything of emotional substance with stupid quips that feel more out of place than the blatant, ugly, green screen reshoots that plague the film.   I have to start by saying that the marketing for this film was impeccable. Seeing this opening weekend, with a full cinema, was pretty great too.
