The Brutalist 2024
First 5 star review in a long time. So many unique decisions come together to make a compelling, well directed, and well acted movie. Every time it could’ve been predictable, it went in a new direction. Gives the Deliverance “squeal like a pig” scene a run for its money. Plus, the parallels to The Fountainhead were just lovely.

A Complete Unknown 2024
Not a big biopic guy, but Chalamet and the other actors really sold this one. Conflict felt minimal and somewhat forced (plus it definitely felt a bit too long), but the movie gets away with it via the acting and Chalamet’s uncanny resemblance visually and performatively. Definitely enjoyed it.
