    This has got to he one of the best Gothic stories I've seen in a long time. Certainly the most truly Gothic.

    Each shot is a painting - from the carriage ride, to the various uses of Orlok's shadow, and in these, the homages to Murnau are so tasteful.     A pretty solid splatter movie. I can absolutely understand the love for the final girl. Sienna Shaw is a phenomenal example of one and is performed beautifully.

    THAT scene is the one part that can't quite stick the landing of being so gorily outlandish it wades into funny, which seems to be it's aim, and instead leaves a horrible taste of misogyny. A fact debated endlessly online and rightfully so.

    As someone who will absolutely hold to not only calling Salem's Lot the best King novel (tied with Misery), but in my opinion, the greatest piece of vampire fiction I've ever read, this movie is a lot of fun. Albeit falling short of being more than "quite good".
