  Hands down the best made-for-tv movie I’ve ever seen. The  Night Strangler feels like a meatier episode of Columbia or another police procedural, and it’s paced in such a way that nothing ever gets too dull despite being padded out 30 minutes or so more than the average tv episode.   i don't how people liked this. it’s the most unserious movie i’ve ever seen about statutory rape. there were some very very bold stylistic choices made in the movie, but i have not one iota of a clue as to why they made it to the final cut. the zooms and dramatic piano were too much. there are subtler ways to communicate. i keep reading things about how this is a deep dive into the twisted psyche of an abuser…
