Extraordinary filmmaking from top to bottom. One of the great new tales of the American Dream, told in truly epic fashion. The scale of this movie is breathtaking, and the fact that it was made for under $10 million is absurd. Probably deserves all of the Oscars it was nominated for, including Best Picture. The admittedly daunting runtime wasn’t an issue in the slightest, I was swept away within seconds, plus the intermission felt proper. The score, the edit, and…

The Substance 2024
I don’t have a ton to add on to my initial review, besides the fact that this has to be one of the greatest sound designs ever created. Holy shit. You feel every single movement, every crunch, every splat, every ooze. A hilariously absurd monument of body horror. The type of movie that gives so little fucks about logistics or trying to provide reasoning for anything going on in the script; the director isn’t interested in grounding this story in…

13 Going on 30 2004
Another chick flicky rom-com rewatch that blew my socks off, this movie has one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard and it just made me so incredibly happy. Not to mention there’s some genuinely great filmmaking going on, there’s plenty of sequences here where I adore the editing and the use of music. These two leads are also tremendous, Mark Ruffalo has creeped his way up into becoming one of my favorite actors to ever do it.

The Best Years of Our Lives 1946
Textbook definition of a timeless, bonafide classic. The type of film where you can just feel its importance & its flawlessness. A seamless script with perfect direction. One of the greatest ensemble movies ever made! I can’t remember the last time I rooted for characters this hard, specifically for their romantic interests. I was literally on the edge of my seat, antsy, impatiently waiting and praying for certain little moments to occur before the film concluded. Thankfully, I got my wish for each and every one of those certain little moments. Amazing.

GoodFellas 1990
Ray Liotta, man, you will be missed. This is a very important movie to my life and obviously it wouldn’t be the same without him cast as Henry Hill. I say it every time, but this film is simply miraculous in each and every department and continues to amaze me. Seemingly always wraps up in the blink of an eye, the runtime feels like it’s only 90 minutes for me lol

Boogie Nights 1997
Instantly 5 stars for the introduction alone, but what truly makes Boogie Nights so wonderful is that in reality, the porn industry is solely used as a backdrop to support the phenomenons in which Paul Thomas Anderson wanted to throw at us. The film, to me, is really about family and acceptance, as well as the idea of chasing perfection within an art-form, the big ol’ goal of filmmaking becoming something much more than just entertainment and finally the way in which…
