Some jokes have not aged well, but the ones that do still hit have that Pauly Shore charm that only comes from that weirdo.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I came to see Marisa Tomei and Christian Slater on the screen together, I left feeling disturbed and depressed.
This is a weird drama with some mediocre writing at times. It didn't make me feel good, but I don't regret watching it. Be prepared for Christian Slater (usually the chatterbox) to play a mute character for half the movie. Rosie Perez is great, but the star of the show is Marisa. She carries this movie and is so expressive in every scene.
Trigger warning: this movie contains depictions of sexual assault.
This movie captures a unique tone of the futility of war and the human nature to invade and disect foreign intities under the banner of nationalism.
It also has some of the best sci-fi action scenes ever captured in film. The CGI and practical effects hold up over 2 decades later.
"Service guarantees citizenship"
A perfectly refined 3 act film encapsulating speed.
I. The Elevator
II. The bus
III. The train
Each action set piece flows seamlessly into the next.
The sexual chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock is so strong I might have chemical burns.
