Mother 2009
So Bong’s Mother.
All I knew is this was a twisty family drama / whodunit.
What I didn’t expect is an adventure movie (not a surprise at all it was filmed in 2:35- usually reserved for epic landscapes/ fantasy) / modern day re telling of a Grimm’s fairy tale. The movie felt episodic, going from one really off beat interaction to the next.

A nightmarish highschool dramaedy where vindication isn't simply triumphing over the bullies but built on their burnt and broken bodies via a macabre massacre. Imagery of religion as a vector of generational trauma contrasted with blood marking milestones and splashed in righteous vengeance. Prom sequence up there with Quint's WW2 monologue, Michael killing Solozzo at Louis, and Ride of the Valkyries as cinematic dynamite I'll never forget.
