    Surprisingly spooky. I was interested to watch this in this age of AI. We should fear technocracy! I liked but The Wrong Trousers sets the bar pretty high.

    I was deeply moved by this. The Three Tenors footage made me laugh out loud with real joy; the Pagliacci clip made me gasp and tear up (I'm reminded of my abiding love for "Reflection" from the Mulan soundtrack); and that final scene, where the camera travels slowly to a close-up of Pavarott's face, subtitles gone now, sending the final note of "Nessun dorma" into the world with every particle of his being, one great breath, one massive cry, giving…

    The interiors, especially curtains, textiles, costumes, were all so lush. The curious mixture of historicization (including even some historical footage of de Gaulle's visit to Cambodia) and the almost claustrophic rotation of settings (street corner, noodle shop staircase, hallway, her room, his room) made it feel simultaneously of a time and out of time--like a play, intentionally leaning away from realism (no passersby, just the main actors on the stage). I found it quite beautiful but I think I wanted something more from the storytelling.
