A story from Yeon Sang-ho that once again explores themes of faith, perception, and reality — yet this time dipping into the realm of I Saw The Devil-style revenge. My only question is: why lean so heavily into those K-drama-esque acting and cinematographic choices? It could have been a far more impactful film, yet it ends up feeling like a missed opportunity…

Smile 2 2024
The horror scenes are all executed brilliantly. It definitely surpasses the first film, showcasing impeccable technique. However, the issue remains the same: a series of good ideas does not equate to a compelling story. Smile 2, much like its predecessor, falters at this point. It believes its narrative is far stronger than it actually is and takes itself too seriously. While the result is grander and more visually striking, it still fails to leave a lasting impact.
