It would have been interesting to have seen this concept done as a limited series- it needed more time to flesh out these characters (Something like Amazon Prime’s Mr & Mrs Smith). Also, some of the actors were miscast. The villain reveal at the end was a little disappointing, and the whole film was lacking tension or any stakes whatsoever.

That said, I loved Cate Blanchett’s wig- acting and the lighting in some of the scenes was impeccable.

A film featuring Saoirse Ronan with a dyed bob? Count me in.

This film won’t be for everyone- its metaphors are heavy- handed and the structure is fragmented just enough to lose some people- But I really loved it. For me, it really works as a portrait of a woman trying to rediscover the parts of herself that addiction has stripped away. The lapping and crashing of the waves and constant transitions between the past and present are poignant reminders…

I really want to blow those little wispy bangs right off of Ella Purnell’s head.

On a serious note though, THIS is television. Great storytelling and a creepy/ beautiful/ enthralling performance from Purnell. I genuinely didn’t know what she was going to do next in every scene.

Patrick Bateman WISHES he was Rhiannon.

This film gave me such a hangover (in the best way.)

All of the performances were so wonderfully subtle, but Mia McKenna-Bruce’s as Tara was just so heartbreaking and real I just wanted to reach through the screen and give her a hug.

“Badger” (Shaun Thomas)  is every good guy who excuses his friend’s bad behaviour and is too afraid to ask the question “are you okay?” or “what did he do?” in fear of the answer. Don’t be like Badger.
