Run Lola Run 1998
A movie made by someone who really loves cinema. Weird in so many good ways. My jaw drop moment was when the credits start they are rolling but are descending top to bottom instead of the traditional bottom to top. It’s such a small detail that packs a punch with tone and emphasizes the story. That was a cool film, man.

A Real Pain 2024
This was great. Painfully honest, brutally awkward, sensitively restrained, and expertly executed. Just finished it and am contemplating starting it over and watching it again. Like when you eat something so good and when you finish you can’t help but order another serving. I hope it wins both of its Oscar nominations.

Past Lives 2023
This is exactly my kind of movie. It oozes sincerity that can only come from well lived-in years filled with sorrow and joy. The story sings off the screen with such well-composed framing. The balance of blocking and pacing is a force to be reckoned with. Will probably be rewatching this for many many many years to come.
