Cinema Paradiso 1988
I actually really enjoyed this movie. Loved Alfredo so much, he was so funny and adorable. I don't care much for the Salvatore but he was a pretty good character too. I think the fact that there were movies within a movie was such a nice addition and a good way if paying homage to the older Italian and Hollywoodian movies throught the years. Would rewatch - can't say the same about Malena.

I've thought about this movie some more and I know why I hated it. It's violence isn't contained only withing thr gangster scenes where they are taking out an "enemy" who is often one of their own people, I hated the violence towards regular people, especially women, and how normalized it is. In a lot of instances the characters, the narrator, or even the general framing of the movie wouldn't go out of their way to justify why that violent…
