  As a Bob Dylan superfan, there was nothing new here, but that doesn't mean it wasn't surprising. TC was excellent and very funny, but the script gave him no real moments to develop Bob into a multi-dimensional character; he's all asshole, no nuance. Who would have invited him onstage if he was like this 100% of the time, regardless of his songwriting talent?   Would've been fantastic as a two-parter, like the Eagles documentary, and delved into the rivalry with Blur, their decline, and (to me) both brothers' solo careers, which have actually verged on excellent.

  A deeply flawed by ultimately (surprisingly) powerful story. A ton of lingering questions, however: no interviews with a single member of the Pogues? No mention or analysis of why he came back to the Pogues after a decade and stayed even longer or why they broke up again? No one slogging Shane at all for any reason, really? Not even a childhood friend to dispute his early story? While some are complaining about the animations, which were actually not that intrusive, no one is saying anything about the B-roll/stock footage, which was surprisingly funny and fitting.
