Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 2024
Such a shame that this film can’t quite compete with the western classics that it’s aspiring to be. Feel sorry that Kev has invested so much of his own money into it. I think even though it’s part of a ‘saga’, it doesn’t feel substantial enough as a standalone film and instead feels very underdeveloped and difficult to really care about any of the characters and their narratives. It spreads itself too thinly. The first hour/2hours feel a lot stronger than the latter part of the film. That said, I will watch the following instalments, at least to see what Giovanni Ribisi brings to it.

Twisters 2024
I enjoyed this film. It ticks all the boxes for a Hollywood action film. Probably very scientifically inaccurate but I’m no scientist so it doesn’t bother me. It’s cheesy but if you embrace the predictable elements then it’s fun. Glen Powell is convincing as the cliched arrogant dude who turns out to be a nice guy with a good heart. Daisy Edgar-Jones was a bit flat for me. Kind of a bland character even though she saves the day.
