Clearcut 1991
What a deservedly angry film. Part horror, part fantasy, part political commentary. Graham Greene should have been nominated for this instead of Dances With Wolves, he's so intense and raw here. Also some really great ideas for what to do with loud assholes at a hotel!

The Outwaters 2022
Even for the extremely picked over found footage genre, this is bottom tier dreck. Maybe there's a tight 75 minute thrill ride in here somewhere but as it is it's a punishing, frustrating almost two hours of horrendous camera work, cheap empty "scares," and one guy filming his own feet for what feels like HOURS. Dreadful garbage but I guess the Bloody Disgusting brand is enough to make this wet turd of a movie a hit.

First watches of Masterpieces™ are always difficult to gauge because they come with such baggage, not the least of which in this case is the idea that Bergman makes "bleak" movies. There is an element of that, but much like Seventh Seal I was struck by the lightness and the whimsy.
