I don't understand the respect for the first movie over this one. The first Grave Encounters was dull, with terrible, empty dialogue and acting, with not enough going on to keep interest at pace. Even its satirical bent is too noncommittal to be interesting. The sequel, while being stupid fun—both movies are stupid fun—has much more going on with the story and metafictional aspect, going way farther than the first one did in its satire, and more tolerable acting and dialogue, but people seem to think the opposite, especially about the acting.

Most of the (seething) negative reviews I'm seeing here seem to be in reaction against the praise and hype for the movie, and the cultural uproar surrounding it, instead of the movie itself.
