Loved seeing all the lolos and lolas dance together. Oddly paced but nice characters and exploration of identity and race.

“You have to smile with your eyes.”
The scene where Young is teaching Ming Ding how to say thank you and smile to customers is probably one of the funniest and saddest scenes I’ve ever seen. It’s so charming because it feels genuine and yet it’s so sad considering Ming has to relive the same monotonous day over and over, teetering on a barely survivable paycheck.
This film is truly such an important piece of representing the Asian immigration story my grandparents experienced that many are still living through today.
