  it’s giving wanda except a sexier, less neurotic bad guy and a more fleshed yet still kinda vapid female lead. her diaries helped. very alluring shots throughout and the score goes absolutely crazy

  no one locks their doors when shit is hitting the fan, no one makes things clear, and everyone is moving too fkn slow for the wild happenings afoot. these lapses had me doin a couple “wtf??!!”s audibly at the screen, but sometimes it all cleared up and i Understood. other that that i was locked in. this hit all the coen buttons for sure

  so bleak with a very pretty color palette draped in an 80s vancouver punk landscape. linda manz’s teen outcast trauma and dennis hopper’s wild card intensity—along with their fraught, “drinking buddy” relationship—is cutting and sometimes a tough watch but ya gotta scrub the grit til it shines. and it do.
